Christmas DNA

Happy Christmas, Dad! The Best present for your Dad, Husband, Grandpa, Pop, Grandad, Brother, is a DNA test.

So, forget the socks, the usual bottle of wine, or the pot plant, and get them something that’s different, original and which wont get forgotten - A DNA test!

We have several profiles to compare the results against already, with more already on their way. You can discover who your family is related to, however distantly, and where your Langton family originated from, right down to the specific village in England. Maybe you will discover that you are related to Archbishop Stephen Langton, or Bishop John Langton the Chancellor of England, or maybe Bishop Walter Langton, the treasurer of England under Edward I, and the 53rd richest man of all time (where did all that money go?)

The Langton track record on this so far seems to be throwing up rare DNA. Take a look at the article Rare Blood of Langton.

Some of the places where you can get these tests are listed below. You contact one of the companies, they send a test kit. He takes a mouth swab and you send it off. Back comes the result which you can compare to others on Lost Langtons.

Places where you can get a test

We had our original test done about 8 years ago by Oxford Ancestors. A spin-off company following research carried out by the university of Oxford.

But, we dont reccomend them as their customer service wasn't great. In more recent years there are a number of better companies to test with. We have recently purchased a 67 marker test from Family Tree DNA who are the biggest company out there. Another big company is Ancesry, which you will likely have heard off.

Dont be put off if the payment amount is in US dollars, if you buy on a credit card then the payment is converted into your local currency.

If you prefer, then there are lots of other smaller companies though and you probably only need to buy the cheapest test on offer. Click HERE to read an article we wrote about the tests available, which we reccomend, and where to buy them.
